We decided to try to find some winter sunshine in Madeira but unfortunately we didn't find much.
Whilst we were there we spoke to a few couples who have been visiting Madeira in January for quite a few years and they told us that this January was the worst weather they have ever had. We had a couple of sunny days but most days were cloudy and windy with a little sun and showers of rain and some days it rained all day. Temperatures were around 20C and it felt very humid.
I didn't do a day by day diary of what we did as most days we just relaxed and watched the huge cruise ships from our hotel but we did 2 days on the hop on hop off sightseeing bus and a couple of days exploring the parts of the town we didn't get round to seeing last July.
Here are the photos from our trip:-
This was our room
These photos are of a little town called Camara de Lobos just a few miles from Funchal and we stopped off there whilst on the tour bus.

Whilst we were unpacking after we arrived there was a knock at our door and a waiter presented us with a bottle of Madeira Wine and a Madeira Cake because we were repeat guests at the hotel - a lovely touch.
